Food, Friends & Lactose Intolerance: Nathan's Journey to Eating Dairy Again
Tell us about your relationship with food before your diagnosis.
Before my diagnosis, food was complicated. I loved eating, but I was always anxious about how my body would react afterwards. Meals that should have been enjoyable often turned into discomfort, bloating, stomach cramps, and urgent trips to the bathroom. I started associating certain foods with feeling unwell, which took a lot of the joy out of eating and social situations.
When did you discover you’re intolerant to lactose?
I started to notice a pattern where dairy-based foods consistently caused symptoms. After cutting out dairy and seeing a big improvement, it became clear that lactose intolerance was the cause. Getting that understanding was a relief, but also frustrating because dairy is in so many everyday foods.
What did you try after finding out you can’t digest lactose?
At first, I tried avoiding dairy altogether. While this helped with symptoms, it felt very restrictive. I had to constantly check labels, avoid certain meals, and miss out on foods I really enjoyed. It felt like I lost a lot of freedom around food.
Can you tell us how you first found lactase supplements?
I came across lactase supplements while researching ways to manage lactose intolerance without completely cutting out dairy. I decided to give them a try, and the difference was immediate and genuinely life-changing.
How did you hear about Lea Gogo and how has your experience been?
I discovered Lea Gogo while looking for reliable lactase enzyme tablets and decided to try them. They’ve been incredibly effective for me. I take them daily, they allow me to eat dairy without symptoms, and I’ve experienced no side effects. They’re now a permanent part of my routine and something I honestly don’t know what I’d do without.
What’s one thing you wish you knew sooner? One tip for other lactose intolerant people out there?
I wish I’d known sooner that I didn’t have to choose between feeling unwell or completely avoiding dairy. Lactase enzymes give you options and flexibility. My tip would be to try a good-quality lactase supplement and see how your body responds. It could completely change your relationship with food.
