Food, Friends & Lactose Intolerance: Giorgia's Journey to Feeling Good Again

Tell us about your relationship with food before your diagnosis.

My relationship with food hasn’t really changed - I love food, and it’s always been a big part of my life. I use it to fuel my body for training and getting stronger, to nourish myself and feel healthy, and above all, it’s central to my social life. Food plays a huge role in conviviality and in spending quality time with friends and family. That hasn’t really changed since I found out I’m lactose intolerant.

When did you discover you’re intolerant to lactose?

It was a few years ago, and it happened gradually. I started experiencing bloating and discomfort, which I didn’t immediately associate with lactose intolerance. As the symptoms became more frequent and intense, I eventually connected the dots.

What did you try after finding out you can’t digest lactose?

At first, I reduced my lactose intake and became more mindful of what I was eating. Not long after my diagnosis, I was lucky enough to discover Lea Gogo, and honestly, it’s been a blessing.

Can you tell us how you first found lactase supplements? 
How did you hear about Lea Gogo and how has your experience been?

I’m a lucky girl! I personally know Lea Gogo's founder, and we share the same issue. It was really comforting to know there was a solution to the pain and discomfort lactose intolerance can cause. Lea Gogo was the first lactose supplement I ever tried, and I’ve been loyal ever since. A friend once gifted me another supplement to try, but I genuinely find Lea Gogo tablets to be superior in quality.

What’s one thing you wish you knew sooner? One tip for other lactose intolerant people out there?

I wish I’d known sooner that Lea Gogo supplements are chewable and don’t require water - which is incredibly handy. I only found out when a close friend of mine, who’s a medical doctor, looked at my tablets and told me I could just chew them. Total game changer.

More generally, I’d say: don’t overdo the foods that make you feel bad. But knowing you have an ally like Lea Gogo with you makes a huge difference.
